The Sunny Side crag at Nanaimo River is one of the most popular on Vancouver Island, regularly hosting dozens of climbers. Unfortunately the crag sits on private land, and the owner has been selling off other parcels of land further upriver. It is inevitable that this property will be sold as well. MICA is formulating a plan to work with local government, the land owner and land trusts to secure park status and ongoing climbing access for this jewel.
